Al-siyahiah – Abbas Radhi
In a pioneering move for Bahrain’s maritime tourism sector, Al Khuzami for Water Transport Equipment Rental and Operations has announced the launch of the country’s first sea car tourism service. The company has obtained all necessary licenses from the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications and the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) to operate this innovative service in Bahrain’s territorial waters.
Phase One Begins in Amwaj and Water Garden City
Speaking to Tourism, Abdulmunem Mayouf, Investment Director at AAA Holding – the parent company of Al Khuzami – said, “The company will launch its first phase of operations in Amwaj Islands and Water Garden City. This is part of our commitment to enhance Bahrain’s tourism and entertainment offerings by providing a comprehensive and immersive marine experience for citizens, tourists, and visitors.”
Introducing a New Concept in Marine Transportation and Leisure
Mayouf stressed that the service represents a new approach to marine transport and recreation in Bahrain. “Al Khuzami is committed to introducing a modern, safe, and environmentally friendly marine mobility concept that aligns with international tourism standards. It supports Bahrain’s efforts to promote sustainable tourism and develop marine infrastructure,” he said.
The company initially began offering water sports services in Amwaj and Water Garden City in 2019. Today, it provides ten different water activities including banana boat rides, leisure siesta cruises, Swordfish jumps and tours, electric sea cars, paddle biking, kayaking, jet skiing, and now, sea cars.
Exclusive Sea Car Dealerships Secured
As part of its expansion plans, Al Khuzami has secured two exclusive dealership agreements for the sale of sea cars in Bahrain. “We have signed exclusive dealership contracts with two companies specialising in the manufacturing of sea cars – one based in Egypt and the other in Turkey,” Mayouf revealed.
Island Tourism Expansion Plans Underway
Looking ahead, Al Khuzami aims to extend its sea car rental services to include guided marine tours to various islands across the Kingdom of Bahrain. “We plan to offer sea tours to key tourist islands such as Bahrain Bay, the Hawar Islands, and Jarada Island, using both air-conditioned and open-air boats,” Mayouf said, noting that implementation is contingent upon obtaining the necessary permits.
Boosting Bahrain’s Tourism Infrastructure
Mayouf stated that these initiatives align with Bahrain’s broader strategy to strengthen its marine transport infrastructure and introduce innovative, sustainable mobility options that bolster both the tourism and economic sectors.
Sustainable Tourism and Marine Ecosystem Awareness
Touching on the broader significance of water sports in promoting sustainable tourism, Mayouf said, “Water-based activities not only align with global sustainability trends but also help raise awareness about Bahrain’s marine environment, especially the mangrove forests that line our coasts.”
He also stressed the importance of private sector involvement. “Empowering private investment in water sports diversifies our tourism products and enables optimal use of beaches and islands for leisure and adventure tourism. This contributes to a more geographically balanced tourism sector, rather than one concentrated solely in urban areas.”
A Destination for Marine Sports Tourism
Mayouf highlighted the potential of government support to elevate Bahrain as a competitive destination for marine sports. “Encouraging investments in marine activities like kayaking, jet skiing, and water skiing will help organize international and local competitions, enhancing Bahrain’s position as both a tourist and sporting destination.”
