Mastering the Art of Texas BBQ with Chef Arron Rhodes at Milaidhoo Maldives

Milaidhoo Maldives is set to host two truly exceptional culinary events in May 2025 that no foodie should miss. Renowned Chef Arron Rhodes, global expert in the art of “Texas BBQ” will join forces with Cluster Executive Chef Ken Gundu for a culinary celebration that blends traditional smoking techniques with refined gastronomy experiences.

On 19th and 22nd May, Chef Arron will showcase his mastery in the comforts of Milaidhoo’s Azure Beach and Shoreline Grill respectively, each evening different in style and format, each showcasing Milaidhoo’s authenticity, hospitality and barefoot luxury at its finest.

The BBQ virtuoso began his culinary journey at 17 as a trainee at 2-Michelin-starred The Vineyard at Stockcross in the UK. His career has since spanned a host of prestigious kitchens all over the world, including 3-Michelin-starred Hof van Cleve, Belgium, Restaurant Andre, Singapore and Central Restaurant, Peru (ranked #1 in the world). He also helped open Edge, the world’s first underwater restaurant, located in the Maldives. Owner of Smoke & Barrel in Hong Kong, Arron is celebrated for having perfected the art of Texas BBQ. His style combines bold flavours with fresh, natural ingredients, and is influenced by his vast travels, Peruvian street food and Chef André Chiang’s Octo philosophy.

American Pop-up BBQ, Azure Beach (Casual and Interactive)

Guests will have the chance to enjoy an informal and interactive American BBQ set against the stunning backdrop of Azure Beach. Featuring the iconic Big Green Egg grill and Chef Arron’s special underground pibil, or pit, this event will be an unforgettable smoky feast, filled with rich, slow-cooked flavours and beverages crafted to match.

Grape Pairing Dinner, Shoreline Grill (Refined and Elegant)

For a more sophisticated evening and elevated culinary experience, Shoreline Grill, Milaidhoo’s premier grill restaurant specialising in dry-aged meats, will host an elegant grape-paired dinner. Guests will savour Chef Arron’s smoked and barbequed meats, complemented by expertly selected fine for an evening of world-class culinary artistry.
